Who You Are:

The primary goal of this role is to provide proactive data driven risk management strategies and management of professional liability risks, performance improvement measures and improved patient safety and patient outcomes for member and prospective insureds.

 

This role is responsible for the coordination and delivery of measurable impact in line with departmental, organizational goals and strategies around risk management and performance improvement strategies. This position will support and coordinate work that improves care delivery outcomes, operational, and financial performance, while allowing the organization to achieve system and entity strategic goals and objectives. Additionally, this position will support leadership in the adoption of new processes which reduce clinical and operational variation to increase efficiency and effectiveness while maximizing the highest level of quality and patient safety.

What You'll Do:

  • Participates in implementing the goals and strategic plan of the Conventus Practice Resources (Risk Management) Department.
  • Provides proactive, knowledgeable, consultative marketing of Conventus Practice Resources services to member insureds and prospective insureds. The consultant serves as a trusted advisor to support the client’s risk management and patient safety needs.
  • Provide excellence in customer service by responding to insured member questions which may pertain to quality improvement and risk reduction strategies in practice operations.
  • Assist in development of practice and risk management products and services to enhance physician practice patient safety, quality of care, and business success.
  • Exercises discretionary judgment and utilizes appropriate research/information when acting as a resource and providing direction/consultation/education to member insureds.
  • Assist with the prescreening process of new business submissions, as assigned, to communicate via verbal and written assessments to Underwriting and/or Business Development, as appropriate, to aid in sales process in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.
  • Manage assigned members practices/contacts to proactively monitoring, communicating and developing working relationship with members, as assigned, including relationship management with new and current member insureds by providing orientation and servicing on practice resources value added services.
  • Perform on-site risk assessment consultations at physician offices, including but not limited to assessing risk, educating physicians and staff, writing internal and external reports, communicating results to underwriting and claims personnel, monitoring follow up, and maintaining risk management documentation related to onsite visits.
  • Prioritize, execute and document practice resources risk management activities according to departmental standards in CRM including call/contact information, and communication with members/prospects.
  • Develop, write and manage content about key/emerging healthcare issues and trends, compliance, and more for company publications, website and overall provider engagement.
  • Develop and present educational programs on patient safety, practice transformation, staff engagement, and regulatory compliance and other topics impacting physician practices
  • Attend and participate in committee, departmental and prospect meetings, as assigned with the ability to discuss prospect, and member strategies for handling accounts, and other relevant topics.
  • Assist in covering 24/7 Practice Advice Hotline to support member insureds.
  • Assist in representing the company at networking meetings and conferences.
  • Consult and collaborate with other departmental team members to identify risks and target product/services to address physician needs, including acting as a resource to interdepartmental personnel in an educational role to assist in identifying risk exposures, claims issues, and in achieving company sales goals.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, RN or other healthcare professional degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in healthcare risk management, practice management, and/or consulting
  • Experience working directly with physician practices to achieve demonstrable improvements in risk reduction, office efficiencies, and practice quality improvement activities
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills including formulating logical and objective conclusions.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment and take appropriate action.
  • Attention to detail in processing information, establishing priorities, and expense management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively and professionally with at all levels internally and outside of the organization with prospects, member and others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
